Flying Food Group was founded in 1983 in Chicago with a single kitchen and one airline customer by legendary entrepreneur Sue Ling Gin, after she was served a half-frozen sweet roll on domestic airline flight. She vowed to do better and she did just that.

Present days
Today, Flying Food Group is a network of 19 elite kitchens stretching from Hawaii to New York and providing custom meals and snacks for the world's leading airlines, as well as to upscale food retailers.

Frankenberg is a family business located in the heart of Europe and since its foundation in 1985, the company focused on the development and production of finest frozen meals for the world’s leading airlines. Frankenberg also produces for the growing and fast developing retail and food service markets. Target of the Frankenberg FFG Joint Venture is to become the US market leader in frozen meals and components for airlines and convenience retail. Successful partnerships require trust, communication and a shared purpose, and we are focusing a lot on the following two factors that we believe contributed and contribute most to our partnership success: Alignment of parent and partnership objectives and effective internal communication and trust.
Corporate Venturing
To meet customer demands for authentic cuisine, innovation, and digital aid, we initiated a Corporate Venturing Program in 2020. Our 50-50 Joint Venture with Move Fast LLC helps manage retail and payments in complex scenarios.

Maximizing the value of Flying Food Group will maximize our contribution to a better world with all our company profits ultimately benefiting the charitable foundation of our founder, Sue Ling Gin, supporting people in need with food, healthcare, education or immigration support. Recent projects of the Charitable Foundation are the establishment of onsite clinics available to our employees and their families or the Digital Academy – an Incubator for non-for-profit start-ups developing digital solutions for healthcare or education.
